Ochocinco draws more hate

Hate to love him, or love to hate him? Personally, I think Chad Ochocinco of the Cincinnati Bengals is hilarious. Unlike his new teammate Terrell Owens, “85” brings forth comedy both on and off the field.

Pittsburgh Steelers left tackle Max Starks wasn’t amused by Chad Ochocinco’s recent trash talking. According to an interview Friday with Ken Laird of Pittsburgh’s ESPN radio 1250, one statement in particular really bothered Starks, one of the team’s locker-room leaders. Ochocinco recently said on his VH1 reality dating show, “Man, I haven’t seen this many girls on a football field since the last time we played the Steelers.”

Why we hate Ochocinco

So pre-season football is almost upon us, and I just ran a draft for one of the fantasy football leagues I am running. As such, I’m catching up on all the player news across the league, and one of my favorite writers (hate him or not, I at least listen to what he has to say) Matthew Berry wrote his Love/Hate for the week, with a little additive about Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, in which he states why he “Hates” the Cincinnati Bengals’ Quarterback and Wide Receiver:

Carson Palmer, QB, Bengals: Cedric Benson up the middle for 4. Second down now and Benson is off left tackle, gain of 3. Palmer back to pass, Chad Ochocinco … is doing the foxtrot? In the middle of the route! Pass is off target, incomplete. Fourth down.

Chad Ochocinco, WR, Bengals: “Dancing With the Stars.” A dating reality show. An iPhone app. These are things I should be doing during an offseason, not the accomplishments of a professional football wide receiver. With the exception of a huge game against Detroit, Ochocinco was fairly terrible over the second half of last year but was bailed out by four straight weeks of scoring, but you can’t count on that. Double-digit touchdowns only once in his career and Antonio Bryant will steal enough catches off of this run-first offense to make Chad a No. 3 wideout who will get drafted as a No. 2.

I figured with the recent drama between Ochocinco and Green Bay Packers’ Tight end Jermichael Finley, this was a fitting assessment. Anyone who knows Chad, follws his TV shows or on Twitter, should appreciate the above quote.

This however doesn’t change the fact of me wanting Ochocinco on one of my fantasy teams for the year – he makes great chat topics at work!
