• What is this world coming to?

What is this world coming to? DestinyChickenSo here I am, sitting in my silly Statistics class, a mathematics course that is substantially lower than any other I have taken in the past fifteen to twenty years. A friend of mine states that this will become more difficult in the end, as I roll my eyes and hope that it does.

I waste two nights a week here, Mondays and Wednesdays, for an hour and a half a night. The term “waste” comes into play due to the fact that there are no classes which start at 7pm or later, so as opposed to taking a 3-hour class like the two I had last semester or the other two I have this semester, I utilize two nights for a class in which I will not learn anything for at least the first two months. Thank you, Business Administration pre-requisite!

We have tonight finally moved onto learning about the Mode Average of a set of numbers, which I learned about in 7th grade – when I was 12/13 years old. Modes are my favorite because they can be completely and wildly inaccurate as a measurement of an average set of numbers. If you’re still clueless, think “the number which most frequently appears” — congratulations, you have now learned the most difficult thing of the first two weeks of statistics.

I filed my taxes yesterday – after difficulties with H&R Block’s software that I’ve used for the third straight year, I should be receiving over $4200 back; whenever California and Obama get around to dropping that into my checking account. Thank goodness for claiming mortgage interest and property taxes.

My Packers won the Super Bowl this past weekend, which you knew already. And by “my”, I mean “the team I’ve been repping all year long, especially once we realized the 49ers were a wash”. My favorite football teams, in order, San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints. And if you must know two additional facts.. 1) I repped the Saints the entire season last year, and 2) I am now 4-0 in my last 4 Super Bowl picks (Giants/Steelers/Saints/Packers).

I’ve been playing the Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood game I purchased post-Christmas pretty heavily for the past two weeks. It’s essentially Assassin’s Creed II (and a half), with multi-player that I have yet to get into. I even “forgot” to go to sleep twice last week, coincidentally Monday and Wednesday night, after this slow-paced statistics class.

I could give you some of the retarded things that go on in this classroom. Such as the guy divided 33/53 and came up with 25%, using a calculator. Or the the teacher explaining how to find the middle number of a short 5-number list, for ten minutes, and the guy next to me asking “Can you explain that again? I got lost.” I swear to god, I was going to stab somebody with my mechanical pencil. I do not see how many of these students passed high school mathematics, let alone achieved the pre-requisite of Introduction to Algebra for this class registration.

That’s it for now. Time to doodle and diddle some classic stick-figure artwork in my math notes. Ciao~

  • I’ve said it all year – Go Pack Go!

Ive said it all year Go Pack Go! The final score of the Super Bowl in which the Green Bay Packers never lost the lead, or even allowed a tie to the Pittsburgh Steelers is 31-25. Honestly, I felt as if the game was over in the first quarter when the Packers tied a Super Bowl record of 14 points in the first quarter – and they didn’t even receive the football to begin the game.

Aaron Rodgers, the Super Bowl MVP, ended with a 24-for-39 completion, 304 yards and 3 touchdowns, giving him an over 110 QB rating. “Big” Ben “The Rapist” Roesthlisberger was 25-for-40, 263 yards, 2 TDs and 2 interceptions.

    Check out additional statistics here!

  • The sad life of Albert Haynesworth continues

The sad life of Albert Haynesworth continues screenshot 2011 02 04 08.45.39Albert Haynesworth will be turning himself into police next week after an arrest warrant has been issues for him.

Yesterday in the Washington D.C. area, the over-paid pro bowler put on a little road rage with another driver, and apparently assaulted the driver when the two were at a stop light together. Albert was tail-gating the driver of a Honda Civic who apparently responded with giving a flash of one of his fingers. Once they hit a stop light though, Haynesworth got out of his car and showed him what it used to be like playing in the NFL.

And so continues the sad life of this once respectable football player.

  • Who will be throwing the ball for the Niners next season?

Who will be throwing the ball for the Niners next season? Jmontana

With questions regarding who will be under center next season for the 49ers, I decided to hear your thoughts.

San Francisco has announced that the next starting quarterback is not on the roster. Alex and Troy Smith have not solidified their right to be a starter next season, and the 49ers have the 7th overall pick in the 2011 draft with a new head coach out of a successful college coaching career.

Vernon Davis stated he would not mind catching balls from either Kyle Orton (being replaced by Tim Tebow on the Broncos) or Donovan McNabb (being replaced by anybody on the Redskins). With Michael Vick going off the hinges this year, Kevin Kolb is available from the Eagles. Then there’s the possibility of Matt Leinart, released by the Cardinals, having a chance.

What do you think? Vote below — you can select up to two options.

Who will be the next 49er Quarterback? (select two)

    • Kevin Kolb from the Eagles (36%, 10 Votes)
    • They'll take someone from the draft (32%, 9 Votes)
    • They'll end up staying with a Smith (Alex or Troy) (32%, 9 Votes)
    • Donovan McNabb from the Redskins (14%, 4 Votes)
    • Kyle Orton from the Broncos (7%, 2 Votes)
    • Matt Leinart from the Cardinals (7%, 2 Votes)

    Total Voters: 28

  • Who misses Singletary? Vernon doesn’t.

Who misses Singletary? Vernon doesnt. Vernon Davis calls out Michael CrabtreeVernon Davis was caught by TMZ one night, stating he does not miss his old head coach Mike Singletary, and that he’s fired up about the prospect of playing with injury-riddled Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton, who is rumored to be on the outs in Denver with Tim Tebow starting to take the reigns. When asked if an Orton-to-SF deal was in the works, Davis told us, “Kyle Orton, if you’re coming, come on buddy. I love you.”

I liked Kyle Orton several years ago when he was with the bears, the Orton to Greg Olsen (TE) was a huge combination, so I can only imagine that Orton-VDavis will be huge as well.

  • Meet the new San Francisco 49er head coach!

Meet the new San Francisco 49er head coach! harbaughx inset community

It’s official, finally. The Stanford coach has agreed to a five-year deal to become coach of the 49ers.  Jim Harbaugh will get $25 million.

The decision ends a wild week of speculation.  First Michigan was supposedly the favorite to land Harbaugh, then the 49ers, then the Dolphins, and then Stanford again.   Perhaps Harbaugh wanted to stay near home all along and was just trying build leverage and use the media as best he knew how.

49ers fans should be happy because the team didn’t seem to have a terrific Plan B.   Now Harbaugh just has to show he was worth all the hype and the money. If not, maybe he’ll be in position to take his buddy Andrew Luck in April of 2012.

  • 2010 is the year of the New Head Coach

2010 is the year of the New Head Coach FiredCoached2010With the NFL season officially over and the playoffs starting this weekend, here is a recap of the head coach firing madness:

    • Wade Phillips – Dallas Cowboys – November 8 – Fired after Dallas, projected to win their division, were thought of as the worst team in NFL (despite the Buffalo Bills having a winless season at that point).
    • Brad Childress – Minnesota Vikings – November 22 – Fired after multiple arguments with star players and realization that the playoffs were no longer reachable this season, as they made it to the NFC Championship game last season.
    • Josh McDaniels – Denver Broncos – December 6 – Fired after being caught videotaping the 49ers before the London game.
    • Mike Singletary – San Francisco 49ers – December 27 – Jed York fired Mike just hours after the loss to the St. Louis Rams which put the 49ers officially out of the playoff hopes, after San Francisco was projected to win the division. Mike’s coaching record for the 49ers ended at 18 wins and 22 losses.
    • Eric Mangini – Cleveland Browns – January 3 – After 2 straight seasons at 5-11 including losing the last 4 games of this season, Mike Holmgren made the decision to not give Eric a third chance.
My predictions for the next coaches to be fired before next season:
    • Jeff Fisher – Tennessee Titans – He may not be back next year, between arguments with quarterback Vince Young and coaching/owner staff, despite his record of success in the past.
    • Tony Sparano – Miami Dolphins – Many fans are calling for Tony to be released if Miami has any chance for the future. His job is at this time undetermined.

  • Favre to be fined without suspension for text messages

Favre to be fined without suspension for text messages zBrett Favre and Jen StergerIt has been awhile since I have written about Brett Favre, save for the record-ending hit a few weeks back. Remember that texting issue with him sending nudie photos to a NY Jets reporter Jenn Sterger several years back? Well, we have a resolution. Get this:

Commissioner Roger Goodell is expected to fine Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre for sending suggestive text messages in 2008 to a female New York Jets employee, without suspending the three-time National Football League most valuable player.

So, you suspend Big Ben Roesthlisberger for 4 weeks, and only give Favre a fine of no more than $50,000? Yeah, okay.

  • FOX News slanders Michael Vick

FOX News slanders Michael Vick 9154517 largeThis once again affirms that FOX News is completely slanted on their views and are not a reliable open source of news from every view point. Michael Vick probably eliminated any chance of winning the MVP with his performance against the Vikings last night as well as the first three quarters against the Giants last weekend, but his redemption story has been popular with some, including president Barack Obama.

But not everyone has gotten over the crimes for which Vick spent 19 months in prison. Tucker Carlson, on FOX News Tuesday at the same time Vick was playing the Vikings, said he thinks Vick should have been executed for his abuse of animals. ”I’m a Christian, I’ve made mistakes myself, I believe fervently in second chances,” Carlson said. “But Michael Vick killed dogs, and he did in a heartless and cruel way. And I think, personally, he should’ve been executed for that. He wasn’t, but the idea that the President of the United States would be getting behind someone who murdered dogs? Kind of beyond the pale.

  • 49ers are out, and so is Singletary

49ers are out, and so is Singletary Singletary27 1091081cl 3

Mike Singletary made a name for himself as a coach with that bold “I want winners!” declaration more than two years ago. Ultimately, he didn’t produce enough victories to save his job.

The Hall of Fame linebacker was fired by the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night after two disappointing seasons, including a 5-10 showing this year for a franchise that expected to win the NFC West. The team made the announcement upon returning to the Bay Area late Sunday, several hours after San Francisco was eliminated from playoff contention with a 25-17 loss at St. Louis. Defensive line coach Jim Tomsula was promoted to interim coach and will run the team in the season finale at home against Arizona. He was to be formally introduced in a news conference Monday.

After team president and CEO Jed York told reporters in St. Louis after the loss he would think about whether Singletary would coach the final game, Singletary then was told of his dismissal back at the team’s Santa Clara complex. “I want to thank Mike Singletary for the passion and effort that he brought to this organization,” York said in a statement. “He is a tremendous person for whom I will always have great respect.”
