The graphics are vastly improved, it seems. The CGI of the snow and character movements are like a breath of fresh air from Italy.
1777, British versus newly founded America.
The trailer is only a minute-and-a-half long, and the game will not be on the shelves for over seven-and-a-half-months from now. But still, I’m excited.
Our new hero is an assassin of Native American and English heritage by the name of Ratohnhaké:ton. Luckily, he also goes by the more easily pronounceable name of Connor. And although the new colonial setting offers more forests than scalable structures as we’ve seen in the Mediterranean cities of previous games, there’s still plenty of sneaking around in the woods along with more offensive combat.

Yeah, I’m excited. Not about the historical setting, however. I feel UBI Soft jumped a little too fast through world history, going from Jerusalem (Assassin’s Creed 1) to Italy-Rome-Constantinople (Assassin’s Creed 2 trilogy) and now the American Revolution. I’d have to assume Assassin’s Creed 4 would be current-day street thugs and the like.
However now we can speculate that Abraham Lincoln is a Templar, and John Wilkes Booth is an Assassin, right?
Perhaps that the Assassin’s are Native Americans (Indians) whereas the Templars are Colonists? Assassin’s Creed III: Oregon Trail? Discuss!
While I am becoming grudgingly tired of Ezio as a character (I much preferred Altair in Assassins Creed 1), I did thoroughly enjoy the game inprovements made between AC 1 & 2. The last title, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, is nothing more than a mere extension of AC 2, with multiplayer added in. I am hoping the 4th title, Revelations, is nothing similar besides the character’s name. He is obviously older than he was, so I am very much hoping this latest release to be the last time he is utilized.
Here’s an excerpt from the UBI.com webpage:
When a man’s battles have been won and his enemies destroyed what then? Where does he find purpose and meaning? To find answers to these questions, Ezio Auditore will travel east in search of the lost library of the Assassins.
In Assassin’s Creed® Revelations, master assassin Ezio Auditore walks in the footsteps of the legendary mentor Altair, on a journey of discovery and revelation. It is a perilous path – one that will take Ezio to Constantinople, the heart of the Ottoman Empire, where a growing army of Templars threatens to destabilize the region.
In addition to Ezio’s award-winning story, a refined and expanded online multiplayer experience returns with more modes, more maps and more characters, allowing you to test your assassin skills against others from around the world.
