I have not been a Lady Gaga song fan for a year or two now. Partially it’s because she is stealing borrowing her songs from other artists (Ace of Base, Madonna, etc). Some of it is that her creativity is walking off the cliff into oddity and weirdness. This song, “Born This Way”, I especially cannot stand. Not because of the meaning behind the lyrics, but rather the repetitiveness of the entire song, taken from.. well.. read my other post. ;)
In April 2011, Yankovic reported that Lady Gaga refused him permission to release “Perform This Way”, which he hoped to use as the lead single for his upcoming album. Yankovic had originally sent the request to parody the song to Gaga’s manager, who responded that they would need to see his lyrics to make an assessment. Yankovic was touring in Australia at the time, and hastily created the lyrics for approval. Yankovic further stated that Gaga’s management further insisted on reviewing a recorded version of the song, and he had cut a family vacation short to turn the recorded version around. Ultimately, he was told that she refused to allow for the parody. Yankovic had considered the song key to his Alpocalypse album, but due to the rejection, he had begun the process to postpone its release until he could record a new song to take the place of “Perform This Way”.
Now, I’m not saying that I fully believe every study that comes out, or that they are completely truthful without bias in one direction or another, but rather I am relaying findings from recent studies.
New research from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio has found that people who drink diet soda have poorer health and a larger waist than those who don’t drink the beverage.
The study found that people who drank two or more diet sodas a day saw their waist size increase six times greater than people who didn’t drink diet soda. A second study from the University found that aspartame, a sweetener often used in diet soda, raised blood sugar levels in diabetes-prone mice.
Abdominal fat is a precursor for a host of physical ailments ranging from heart disease to diabetes to stroke. While diet sodas may be calorie free, they are not free of consequences. The studies were presented on June 25 at the meeting of the American Diabetes Association. Continue reading “Diet Soda makes you fat?” Diet Soda makes you fat?
The San Francisco 49ers have just announced that their annual selection for the Edward J. DeBartolo Sr. 49ers Hall of Fame will be determined by the fans. Fans will have until July 15, 2011 to select one of the three finalists: Roger Craig, George Seifert and Gordy Soltau. My vote goes to the old Head Coach, Seifert. Roger Craig lived in the world of Joe Montana, and I recall him dropping some key fumbles in important games. At the goal line. Which cost the 49ers the game.
“The 49ers Hall of Fame is very special to me, my family and our organization,” said 49ers President and CEO Jed York. “We wanted to reward our fans for their tremendous loyalty by involving them in this very important and special process. I am so proud to know that our fans will have a significant role in building the 49ers Hall of Fame for years to come.”
In addition to the fan selection, 49ers Ownership will be able to select at least one inductee each year. Those people named as finalists in the fan voting process will not be considered in the Ownership selection. Both inductees will be honored throughout the weekend of November 12-13, 2011, highlighted by a ceremony at halftime of the 49ers home game versus the New York Giants.
To be considered for the Hall of Fame, the finalists must meet the following criteria: outstanding production and performance on the field, key contributions to the team’s success, and/or the embodiment of the spirit and essence of the San Francisco 49ers.
