…because my page needed some fireworks. Clearly.
New decade. New life. I have decided that I need to take things with a completely different (and at times, opposite) approach; clearly what I am doing is not working for me. With not only a new year coming up tonight, this is the challenge that I present to myself for the new decade. New decade. New life. Something to at least try out for awhile and to see where it takes me. If I can learn to ignore negativity in my life, to push out the things that don’t belong and only accept things that do; if I can stop trying to shove that square peg through the round hole, then I should be able to appropriately find the one that fits. All I can ask is that my life goes in a new direction from here. Hopefully I can make it to that big “three-oh” with a more beneficial perspective.
New Life category created for things like this. I’m unofficially marking this entry as an extention of the previous one; a topic I wanted to discuss but chose to skip temporarily. /rant end
In other news… I am looking forward to playing with my new football team this weekend, and doing belated Christmas with my sister as well. So the first weekend of the new decade is planned out, thankfully. Friends and Family, how could one go wrong?
Lovin’ some Kid Cudi lately. Have a safe New Year’s, everyone!
You'll shoot your eye out, kid.
First and foremost, belated Merry Christmas to anyone who bothers to tune into my lack of blogging etiquette. I hope those of you reading had a Merry Christmas, Hanukkah, or whatever else it is you do with your time. =)
We went to see family in the Las Vegas area, I love being there, especially when I get to see my grandparents and other family. As uneventful as most of the visit was, I was certainly relaxed to be at home again this weekend; only to have to come back into work on Monday. Of course this is the slowest work-week of the entire year, and I have time to do pretty much whatever while I’m chained to my desk. I even brought in my 20″ TV and Xbox 360 yesterday as I had done last year, since video games help the passing of time when we get two phone calls per day.

Assassin's Creed II
I was able to launch Assassins Creed II and finish off the last of the achievements that I was missing.. 1 of the 100 feathers, 1 of the 20 glyphs, and some silly “kill 10 opponents without being hit” combat achievement.
This fortunately leaves me 100% completed with the game’s achievements, as running through the storyline is simply not enough.
AC2 was an awesome game, and I highly recommend it if you enjoy the style of play. It certainly made me want to walk around The Venetian on the Las Vegas Strip again.

Florida Gators - background from the Nike website
We’re starting up football again! I’ve been to two social plays the past month, and our team’s (drafted this past weekend) first practice is set for this Saturday, and our first game running the following weekend on Sunday (1/10) — our theme as chosen by captains Joe and Darrel is a royal blue / orange medley; think Florida Gators.
I spent a good portion of yesterday’s boredom running through Nike and Eastbay looking for new shorts, cleats, gloves, etc to match the set attire. Joe and I will be having matching cleats and gloves as he asked me to order a set for him as well (smaller, of course~).
I am sure there will be a slew of photos once we have the uniforms in place. This year shall be awesome! Mostly because we now have the Tequila Police, Ron, on our team this year!
So beyond all that, I’ve met many cool people the second half of this year. I somewhat consider the first half an entire wash as a portion of it was my attempt at recovering from last year, as well as a bad experience or two mixed in. I’d definitely have to state, however, that the friends I have made the past six months have definitely changed my perspective on a few things. I had originally started this post with a desire to go at length about a few, but I’m not hesitating and feeling that it may be left for a better time.
Until then.. Happy New Year’s, guys!

Gaga and performers, on her latest tour
So, Gaga was pretty fantastical. I pretty much lost all verbal speech ability by the end of last night, and answering a phone call today at work was quite the excitingly fun challenge. I may have also danced off about ten pounds. Kid Cudi put on a good show, and the opening band was complete crap (good to those who didn’t know any better, but I’ve seen my large share of bands, and these people were on the lower end, I don’t even recall their name).
I didn’t get home until around 4am, but not before I was sniped by the CHP on my exit off the freeway at 3:45am or so — apparently I was going 95 on the freeway, which is quite the feat considering I had cruise control set at 74. You can bet I’ll be fighting that in court, and I’ll be lucky enough to see a 3am shift cop in at 11am to tell his side of the story to the judge. No matter, I haven’t been convicted of a speeding ticket in my Mustang since.. uhh.. summer 2006. So, yeah. =)
We have our sweet Christmas bonus being added to our paycheck this week, and I can instantly think of a half dozen ways to spend a free grand that I wouldn’t normally expect to have readily available. While I would love to repaint my car with some more snazz, the clutch needs to be done.. c’est le vie. I suppose I could wait until tax time (which always yields a high amount of cash back for me, thanks homeownership!) to deal with the automobile issues, and either throw it into a gym membership again, pay off some random credit card, or.. who knows.
I missed Muse playing at NSSN this year (see posts a few weeks back), but I heard from the grapevine that they will be performing in April, again. So, hooray!
As I type this, I am watching the 49ers dismantle the Cardinals.. too bad it means little as the chance of San Francisco making it to the playoffs is rather slim. I’m winning this week’s football pool however. I had 11 picks right, and the next closest has 10, and he chose the Cardinals for this game, meaning at best we would tie and go to total points for the tiebreaker; but seeing as the 49ers look to demolish this game, I’ll be taking the cash this week!
I added my little musical lyrics section there on the right – currently there’s two songs, and I am attempting to figure out some way of making it easier for me to incorporate additionals, as the current method by which I have it done is going to become complicated as soon as a I add a few more in there.
Anyhow, happy December! Christmas coming soon, viva Las Vegas!
So as the year comes to close, here are my looking-forward-to’s:

Gaga performing for us earlier in the year
♫
I want your love and
I want your revenge
You and me could write a bad romance

Lady Gaga this Sunday! We have 8 tickets and I believe it’s going to be a crunkin’ time. Joe and I saw her back in March, and the show was pure awesomeness. I can only imagine Joe and I plus six beating the experience by a factor of twelve. Better still, I don’t even know who the opening bands/performers are.

Me & Chris, designing our defensive strategy
I did my first football social play this past Saturday, hanging out with a large portion of the crew later that night. I can’t wait to get back into the football swing of things, again! I believe I went 6 for 7 on catching with one touchdown (the one dropped ball was a bit low, and I was slapped in the face when reaching for it, hah!)
I’m glad the pricey Nike gear I purchased last year made it through the offseason. I’m not entirely in the mood to purchase new $60+ cleats, or Nike Pro pants/shirts ($25-$50 each). The gloves are still fantastic, as if I’m using stickum.
Hooray for more athletic weight loss!
As Joe’s saying goes: “UP THE FIELD!!”
In Fantasy Football, I went First Place in all four leagues I am playing in this year.
Basically, it’s bragging rights until next football season. We enter the Fantasy Football playoffs this week, and with all four teams Packers heavy on players, and the Packers still fighting for a playoff spot, I should have a great shot at a Superbowl win in at least three of them.
I still need to find time to better customize this blog-o-rama of a website, so we’ll see!
